1997 7.3L cuts off while pulling

Hello all. Thanks for help in advance

I have a 1997 7.3 f250
I had to pull a buddy of mine out of ditch today.

I locked my truck in 4wd low. Started to pull and the truck cut off. This happened several times. While I was pulling the truck was on about a 30 degree incline.I then drove the truck to get another buddies truck and it drove 100% fine.

It always started right back up with no problems.

It is tuned by dp tuner. Don't no if this matters.

What could this be?

Welcome to the forum.

I will leave the troubleshooting to more knowledgable guys but it might be a good idea to let your EOT get up to operating temp (180*+) before you ask it to do work like that.

Thats what I was always taught with equipment, anyway.

I always like to and have in the past. He was in a sticky spot.

First diesel so I wasn't sure if that would make it cut off, why I thought it would be a good idea to put that info in there.

Thanks man

I understand about sticky spots.

I don't think your engine cutting out was a result of it not being warned up though so you should get some expert responses soon.

Was the truck twisting at all when you were pulling? Sometime bad wiring can rub up on something when the truck is torqued out

1984 F-250 6.9, T-19, BW1345, BB code injectors, low mileage, manual Beru Glow Plugs, D70 rear end. solid truck.

1985 Toyota Landcruiser BJ60, 5 bearing cam 3B 4cyl diesel, H55F trans. Best rig I have ever owned.

1981 Honda Trail 110.

How is your oil level? Incline could cause low oil to run away from the sump making low oil flow to the HPOP. A restart would give the oil in the heads time to flow down.

Do you tow a trailer?

Maybe you could try and replicate the issue by putting a similar load on your engine while monitoring gauges?

I do. My buddy has a diesel shop with heavy dump trucks 18 wheelers ect. Plan to put one in neutral and pull one this weekend for load. Maybe this will be good enough?

I have been driving truck everyday since this happened with 0 problems. Just don't want it to happen again
