Re: CA Model Trucks?

California trucks have split shot injectors...easiest way to tell is to have a look at the fuel pump...it is right behind the fuel filter canister under the turbo. If there is a big black "star ship enterprise" looking disk hanging off the front of it, its a CA truck. It will be labled "Bosch" (its a pulse dampener) The CA truck injectors flow more fuel than the non-CA models.

Re: CA Model Trucks?

The black disc is the pulsation damper, is about 3.5" in diameter and is BEHIND the fuel pump on the fuel pump banjo fitting under the turbo.

Re: CA Model Trucks?

So is flowing more fuel bad or good? And does anyone know any differances in the Canadian trucks?

Re: CA Model Trucks?

Stock, the fuel pressure regulator is set to 70 psi instead of 50psi, has 120cc split shot injectors instead of about 90cc single shots. The California trucks make a little more power, especially after adding a chip. Supposedly the split shot injector engines are quieter but mine wasn't.

Only thing different in a Camadian truck over a Federal one is the Daytime Running Lights and metric speedometer I think.

Re: CA Model Trucks?

THey started a little later than mid 1996 in the change from single shots to splits. My 96 PSD was made in late June and is a single shot. IT is also a California truck, but at the time they made mine, there was no difference.
