rpm's VS mph

hey all. Quick question, im just trying to figure out if my tranny is ok or not.. so i need all the help i can get.. !! anyway at 60 mph, im running almost 2k rpms in OD.... seemed kinda high... but new to this truck and setup.. so any advice would be great!! thanks all

What is your rear end ratio ? 3:73 , 4:11 ? The transmission has nothing to do with final drive unless you are not engaging the OD.

ok... how do i check the gear ratio. with out taking the cover off?.... i did it on my gmc but its easy to count teeth when you can see them...?

you can check the door tag for the axle code, or see if there is a tag on the axle itself.

then look at the chart to see what ratio it is,

Automotive What is my Ford rear end ratio, do I have positraction

but with stock tires, in od at 2K & 60mph, I would say you have 4.10 rear.

Sounds like you have 4:10's, these trucks only had 4:10's or 3:55's. I have 3:55's and when I had 265's @ 2k I was at 67-68 mph. Now with 35's @ 2k I'm at 73-74 mph.

i have 285/75/R16.... and ill go check the code right now... but i think the stock tire is like a 235/85/R16 i think ... would my tires make a big difference?
