Engine pulling

My truck is lifted 4", if I'm willing to remove the core support and roll out from under the motor do I need a 2 ton picker or can I get away with a 1 ton?

I looked at the gantry crane on harbor freight, but I just don't think I can justify the cash. my understanding is that a simple A-frame would be hundreds in materials as well though, especially given a nice I-beam. I don't have a bunch of nice steel lying around here.

One ton should do it. The engine weighs right around 900 lb fully dressed.

I'm concerned about reach. Engine plus leveler plus four inch lift equals tall. And I can't take off the wheels because I'm going to need to roll the truck out from under the engine, because of the surface it's on.
