pensacola diesel recommendation

Hi guys,

My truck has alomst 340,000km on it now and I've never changed the pump or the injectors so I am waaaaay overdue. I'm getting some hot start issues now which I'm quite sure is the pump going south.

I found what looks like a very good deal for a pump and injectors on E-Bay through Pensacola Diesel. Has anyone had any experience with them? They have a 100% positive feedback rating, which is good. If you have purchased a pump or injectors through them I'd be interested in hearing what you think of their products?

Thanks in advance if you have any info.

Hot start issues CAN be a bad starter. A hot engine has more friction than a cold engine so a starter going bad may crank it too slow to fire.

I did look at the guys in Oregon. The Pensacola prices are way better but sometimes it's the old 'too good to be true thing'. Has anyone out there bought injectors or pumps from them?

Here's the links to what I'm looking at:

eBay Motors: NEW 6.9 - 7.3 Ford Diesel Fuel Injector NON Powerstroke (item 200338170671 end time May-09-09 17:27:06 PDT)=

eBay Motors: Ford IH 7.3 7.3L DB2 Fuel Injection Injector Pump (item 200338170585 end time May-09-09 17:26:49 PDT)

What do people think?

Bruce[/quote]OK, I'll admit it. I bought one of these injection pumps, but not off ebay. I am not exatly a happy camper over the purchase but the pump is running pretty strong.2000 miles later its too noisy for me. There is a loud clacking noise coming from the pump and I have a timing issue that might be pump related. I am not reccomending this pump untill I check a few more varaibles. I see that ebay has a 100 percent feedback for Pensacola.Check over at "OB" for further reviews.---Rob

Thanks Rob,

What's 'OB'? What do you think about the injectors? They are apparently 'new' but they are significantly cheaper than anything else I can find, which makes me suspicious. Maybe they are a high volume seller so they can keep their prices down, maybe they're remaned in a new box.

I'm all for saving a buck, but not if it's an inferior product.

I bought an injector from them and it was absolute junk. My truck wouldn't even start wit it in. I replaced it with the old one and it started up. I read on another board that they clean the cores and send them out as rebuilt, or just fix the obvious and ship it. I would NOT recommend them, although they did give me a refund.

I bought my new injectors (full set of 8) from Pensacola. They were Delphi brand and did appear to be new, not rebuilts. I pop tested them before installation and they were all fairly close to equal on pop-off pressure. I've been running them for a year now with no problems.

If you see any wrench marks on the hex on top of the injectors or anywhere in general they might be rebuilt injectors, not new. I don't know anyone that used one of their pumps, so I have no info on that angle, sorry.

Thanks guys,

It sounds like they are pretty hit and miss with quality. The cheapest I can get new Delphi injectors up here is about $85.00 each so it is attractive at $155.00 for a full set for sure. Is there a way to tell if they are the real deal or knock-offs? I'm leaning toward one of the more reputable dealers for the rebuilt pump because I'm not hearing from many people who had good experiences with rebuilt pumps from them.

Pensacola Diesel

I know this is late for you, but :
Just wanted to relay an experience I have had with my injectors, after spending some 2500.00 replacing all of my injectors, even though only one was bad, which is the smart thing to do as we know. After one day of the rebuilt injector usage, much to my dismaym number 5 went out. I called, they replaced, when the replacement came it had been packed so poorly that the tip had broken through the box and beaten through the plastic protector. I might also add that the box of original eight were equally poorly packed. I called they said, "it should be OK" , I asked if they were going to pay for the labor if it was not!? He shipped one overnight to replace. I paid my mechanic to replace another 400 dollars down the toilet. Took the truck after it is fixed and drove it for two days and a miss reappeared. I just came from the mechanic after running buzz, contribution, etc... guess what, three and eight are now bad. Sooo after almost three thousand dollars, (also replaced the IDM) I still have two bad injectors!
I called Pensacola, after a short disscusion, the best they will offer is, and I know the policy statement, they will upgrade me to a new set, IF, I send them another eight hundred dollars. So now I am in the preverbial catch 22... get a new set somewhere for 2 large, or suck it up and pay them another 8 bills and then after that is done, I get to pay the mechanic to do the dance all over again! On top of this, when I am explaining that there is a plethera of online review areas that I can visit and write about my bad experience, he quipped " I can help you do that!" Real cute huh?

The lesson learned here? First, let the mechanic do everything, including ordering the parts, that way he is on the hook if it goes bad. Second, use only new parts! Third, you guessed it, no pensacola injectors!
Maybe just a weird set of coincidence.... I doubt it.

Probably won't get to have this post on long but I just thought it was a rightous bust. First time shame on you...

Hope this helps someone!

In response to Tongie1....

I think in respect to "this" (IDI) forum if a guy needs IDI injectors it is of considerable importance that they are bought from a vendor or member that tests them, considering the amount of reports from members that some brand new ones come faulty.

Locally there is a guy I think named John who is supposed to be one of the best for Powerstroke injectors, his business is Electronic Injection Services in Sherwood OR Electronic Injection Services, no purchase experience, but in talking to him he's always been helpful and friendly. Worth consideration.

Yikes! I just ordered an IP from Pensacola yesterday. I frequent OB a lot and I only know of one bad experience (which is well documented), but I know of another member that is happy with his. I did it because there is no core policy. I did order over the phone and verified a one year warranty. Hopefully I get lucky and get a good one. If nothing else, I'll have a core to send out for a good rebuild.
