Good Day ALL!!!
Read from this site for a while, just recently joined to poise a question.
I have a 1993 F350 NA, 5 speed dually cab and chassis ....bone stock.
I had gotten this truck for free....it was a pile, to say the least.... nothing on the back for a bed, body or box, fuel tanks rotted out, all fuel lines rotted, brake lines non-existent, all tires locked up, all joints so bad that if you wiggled them just rught, you could separate them from the other end, cab rotted, fenders shot, interior was good except the seat....but the doors, hood and glass was all good!!!!
I replaced EVERYTHING on this truck (I like to tinker......A LOT) but I have an idle issue I can't seem to have shaken for the past 6 or 7 years.
Obviously, with the above description....ALL fuel tanks, sending units and lines are new. A 5 p.s.i. diesel fuel pump was placed inline between the front tank and the mechanical fuel pump (which is also new) and is hooked up to a pressure switch. (Mind you, this issue was ongoing BEFORE the addition of the electric fuel pump). New fuel filter, new glow plugs, glow plug relay, new injectors, new return lines (but NOT new O-Rings on the return line cups....no evidence of leaking). Injector pump was replaced with a known good, used pump since the 1st I.P. wasn't providing pressure.
Onto the issue. Cold starts are fine...a little longer than normal since someone may have cranked the I.P. up quite a bit (preparation for a turbo that hasn't been found yet and yes, I have a pyrometer and know all about the EGT's and whatever....not my first go-round with these). But the when the truck warms up, and now sometimes shortly after startup since I have to replace the 2 post temp switch..., at idle.....the truck will start to act like it has a slight air intrusion. It will start with the sound of a "cha-cha-cha" then go right into running with a SLIGHT rough idle with the rapid noise of "cha-cha-cha-cha-cha-.....". It doesn't rock the truck but it vibrates the doors notably if their open.....and it clears up when you hit the throttle a little. Sometimes that will clear it for a while, sometimes it comes right back. Hold the RPM's just a little higher....it will never do it. It does it with or without the clutch depressed.
The best I can describe, it sounds like the same noise you hear on shutdown on the engines very last rotation....but in quick succession and at idle speed.
Does anyone have any clue??????
