So I got a bit of a Frankenstein 85 6.9 it has a turbo kit in it, but recently stopped engaging, and when it did work it was really random, up hill, down hill, etc. Now it's not working at all. I don't know a thing about how it works, but I see a frayed 3 line going into turbo, with a possible leak. But I haven't pulled off to check. Could this be the issue? Pic attached.
Unless I'm missing something, looks like your oil supply line to the turbo may have took a dump but I don't see any oil anywhere. With no oil going to the turbo the bearings are going to seize.
That sounds like a tough one. I don’t know much about the turbo models as mine have been naturally aspirated, but I would suggest getting a second or third person to diagnose what it’s doing. There’s probably a rebuild machine shop somewhere in your neck of the woods that would have a line on a used turbo or remanufactured, if necessary ?
