Another 'What is it?'

Still very new to my 450--in looking at the front of it and the front of a 350 that pulled in 2 slots over, I notice a black plastic box to the center of the lower grille area near the DS tow hook on mine. Its between the tow hook and the plate mount. The 350 doesn't have it.
Clue me in?
Thanks,
Joe

Hey Joe,

Just looked at my 2017 F450 Lariat and I have no such box.

Got a picture of yours?

Phil

Phil,
Here is best I can do--nighttime and raining. Haven't measured, but it looks to be about 8"x4" and is attached by 4 corner screws.

Bought off a lot in MT--it does have the snowplow prep/camper package. Guessing it is the electrical hookups for a plow?
Won't have a chance to take the cover off til next week to take a look. It only took me 3 weeks to notice the difference in mine and another one....

Interesting that Ford wouldn't have made that more "camouflaged" or incorporated behind one of the plastic bumper panels.
Kind of sticks out there like an ugly duckling.

Yeah, my wifes car has it, but it looks like it is part of the grill. Blends right in.

Have that feature in the MKX and have no idea where the sensors are--can't see them from the front.

That's a thought--what to do about it if you want to install a grille guard?

I'd be willing to bet it has to be installed in the same position and not obstructed, but I could be wrong. I wanted to to a nice offroad bumper on mine, but I'm just afraid to mess this sort of thing up. And I don't like the idea of this box hanging outside the front of the bumper...

Joe, if you have collision warning, I believe those sensor(s) are in that box, too. I also keep the bugs cleaned off that box. Not sure it helps, but I do it anyway. David
