Remote access

Does anyone have the new instructions to program the Custom Accessories Remote start?
I took the VSS and RMU from my 2016 F350 to put in the 2017 F350. On the 2016 to program the VSS you had to turn the key in the ignition 8 times, not sure what to do with the push button start now. All the instructions I can find are for the 2011 to 2015.

Thanks for any help

if you have a center console, on he left hand side you remove the bottom and then you will see another cover remove it also and there will be a indent that matches your key fob. Place the fob you want to flash in the indent. From there I don't know what is next step LOL. Didn't get that far.

That's for starting your truck if the battery dies in the key fob.

I had to buy a VSS(vehicle security system) unit to plug into the OBD, then just start it.
Everything works now, remote lock, unlock, and start from my cellphone.

Where did you connect the Remote Access Y-cable on the 2017?

For those that don't understand what's being discussed here, it is the cellular box that allows you to start, lock and unlock your truck using your phone.

The newer module comes with a new style cable, it plugs into the back of the OBD port. No programming or key turn procedures, once it's plugged in and the truck started it's good to go.
I do need to find a different place to mount the VSS module, the old one was mounted to the steering column and that detected movement pretty well. I can't mount it there on the new truck, the place I had to put it doesn't move so the alarm is not as sensitive. I have not got around to changing the sensitivity or a different mounting location yet.

I just had to buy the VSS part, the modem plugged into it and I didn't have to do anything with the subscription. My dealer had one in stock so I just got it from them. I didn't want to search for one again.

Good to hear, so I just need a new VSS and can use the old modem. That is good news.

It worked as advertised. I actually suspect that we only needed to buy the new cable. I'm going to try my old VSS with the new cable and see for sure. Of course, not sure how easy it is to get the cable alone.

That would have been nice to only have to pay for the cable

It didn't work. Oh well, at least we didn't have to pay for the modem and reset the subscription to a new box.

Who has the part numbers for the VSS and modem for the 2017 SD's? I purchased and installed the same hardware in my 2011, which is on the chopping block. If I can reuse any of it, that would be great. Thanks.

I will look at the VSS box when I get home. I was able to reuse the modem and keep the same subscription.
