Not sure what the manual says but I am a proponent of servicing the tranny at least every 25k and every 20k if you tow alot. For your first tranny service I would drop the pan, change the filter and refill, all at the Ford dealer so it shows up on your CarQuest and will keep your warranty in place. I also added an external tranny spin-on filter from Summit Racing; at about $40 it is a great option which will eliminate the need for an internal filter change in future flushes.
