the hoses have to go on and off in a particular order. O'Reilly's probably won't have a tool for a pitman arm that big, at least not for sale. But Napa should have one for $30 or less. |

Welcome to the Diesel Stop Go slow and pay attention to what hose/line goes where. other than that, I would make sure the wheels are pointed straight ahead and the gearbox is at the "center" of it's travel. You will need a special puller to get the pitman arm off,. but the tool is not very expensive and available at most any A/P or tool store. Make note of its position if it's not notched to fit at a particular point of rotation. |

1988 IDI power steering gearbox I have to replace the gearbox. Is there anyone with advice? I haven't done this before. |
