Egwilly FWIW, mine does this on occasion depending on my towed total weight (heavy), and grade (usually 5-7% grades will do it). I just live with it and force upshifts. Not happy with motor at redline for long periods.

Good luck at the dealer, and please keep us posted on the results!

HeavyAssault TOW/HAUL mode will use engine braking to help slow the truck down. This is quite different then using the exhaust brake function. Pretty normal depending on your towed load weight and vehicle operations.

This has been on the last few years of SD trucks. My 2004 would hit every gear like that till the truck stopped. I loved it. Ford had other ideas and took it out of the TCM from what I recall. I for one am glad it's back.

If you think you have a problem go to the dealer. Otherwise expect them to say they can't recreate or there is no issue. Are you going to leave you trailer there with the dealer?

I am also hoping they can stop the heat and heated seats from coming on during remote start regardless of outside temp. Took it in for that and they couldn't reproduce, even though it happens 100% of the time for me on first start in the morning. Nothing like sitting down on hot seats to make you boiling mad.
Let's get all of these issues on the radar of your regional customer service manager, TheBeef. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll get the ball rolling.

SkiSmuggs What Crystal said! I've towed with my 2015 SRW for 10,000 miles and never had that occur.

Hi TheBeef,

I'd recommend making an appointment at your dealership; they'll be the best to advise on your shifting concerns. How many miles are on the truck?

larrgh If Ford had wanted it to act differently, they would have programmed it differently is all I can say. If the engine blows, then hopefully Ford stands behind their product. So, I don't worry about it even if the engine sounds like it is about to rips its guts out.

Tranny downshift in tow/haul mode

2015 F350 SRW. Towing yesterday in tow/haul mode on a back road around 40 mph with engine brake off. I slowed down to around 35 mph as I started going downhill and the truck downshifted to 3rd, as it should have, but then dropped into 2nd. When it shifted to 2nd the engine was screaming right at the redline. Usually if you hit the gas it will upshift but since at redline I was hesitant to give it gas. I turned tow/haul off and it upshifted as I expected. Anyone have this happen? Didn't seem right for it to downshift to a gear that would put it at redline. I usually tow with engine brake on and it would have kicked in at the time but I don't expect that to be the reason.
