I started to notice my transmisson was acting up earlier this week. One day later It left me on the side of the road. Won't move in first gear. I brought it to the repair shop they came up with the following codes p0733, p1316, p0732, po746. They told me the trans was junk and I needed a new one. They recommened a Jasper, 3500 installed! No thanks! I found a local shop that would remove, rebuild, and install for around 1600. Can anyone tell me what these codes are? Do they point to a new trans? 1600 average price for a rebiult transmission? Just want to make sure there is no other problems, and I really need a rebiult trans.

P0732 means when the trans should be in second gear the PCM measured the gear ratio and it wasn't second gear ratio.

P0733 means when the trans should be in third gear the PCM measured the gear ratio and it wasn't third gear ratio.

P0746 means there is a problem with the pressure control solenoid. If the solenoid is not supplying the pressure it should the gear ratios could be wrong. More diagnosis is needed, and the first shop may have done that and could be correct. On the other hand it might only need an EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid. I can't tell from here.

P1316 is not a transmission code.

Mark, i have a question similar to ProXJC's.
When ever i put a heavy load on the converter, wether its holding the brake and applying the throttle, or towing a heavy heavy trailer, my over drive light will start blinking, and it feels like the converter looses pressure and and i have no throttle pedal.
then when i let off the throttle my idle will drop to 500 rpm then come back up to normal. Any thoughts?
thanks, James

My thought would be to get the codes read to find out why the light is flashing. Without that I don't know where to start.
