Around 55K mi. I started to have varying levels of braking issues. Typically the truck would pull hard left when exiting interstate highway on off-ramp 65-70mph. This symptom came and went with out any specific regularity or common environmental similarity. Took the truck for aligment and the shop would not touch the truck as all the alignment parameters were dead-on perfect. Tire wear was acceptable, and I continued to drive for another 15K mi. with symptoms coming and going irregularly. At 70K mi. I had new rotors, calipers, pads installed and a month later the symptoms, althogh less severe, reoccured but the "pulling" was now both to the left (80% of the time) and right. Took the truck back to the shop (3x's)and they put in shim kits and changed pads with little or no affect. When the symptom first occurred it became increasing stronger to the point where hard or emergency braking would pull the wheel out of your hand and the truck would "dive" hard left. Now at 95K mi. the symptoms are very infrequent and weaker. Anyone have any expierence/or advice?

I've had the same symptoms with my '02 along with EXCESSIVE brake wear. Fading and pulling seems to come and go. I have used Ford and China-made rotors with the same result. I have tried several brands of pads with no change. I went through many (7 or 8) sets of rotors and pads in a little over 175,000 miles. Rotors always look terrible after 15,000 miles or so - a lot of tiny heat cracks evertime. I have checked all the front suspension components numerous times and all are fine. Caliper pins have never been frozen or stuck, and the hoses and calipers were not compromised. However, I changed calipers and hoses on the front about 35,000 miles ago and got the same result - pulling hard left randomly while braking. Replaced the rotors and pads with cheapest China junk I could find and have had my best results yet (34,000+). I still get some pulling occasionally but the pads are holding up better than ever, with a slight increase in squealing. I think it is really hard to find a good combination of pads/rotors for trucks which see heavy loads and a lot of empty miles. It has been a challenge for me to find the right hardness of pads, and quality rotors are tough to come by for a 2WD dually.

From posts praising them here i'm going to try some Cryo treated Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads on my '02 ....I plan to get them on there before our camping season starts soon and hopefully they're as good as the hype about them...

2002 4x4 7.3L - Had bad warped rotors and shaking when braking about the 70k mark. Changed rotors and pads and have had no problems until I just completed resent tire rotation... 180k mark... now when heavy breaking truck is pulling bad to the left??? Had heard that maybe the lugs might be over torqued or unevenly torqued??? Gonna try setting again? For those intgerested... Applied Rotor Technoligy - ART - contact person is - Pad - 714-527-9400... dont know if Iam supose to do that... but, these have been a great setup for me... during rotation still little sign of wear and until now, stopping had not been a problem! I have been very satisfied with product!
