I have a 2002 F250 Super Duty Lariat Super Cab 4x4 with 130k miles. GEM Module is bad (confirmed by licensed mechanic that specializes in Powerstrokes and Cummins). Problem is finding one. No local shops have the part for a 7.3, and Ford is telling me that the part is on back order with an unknown release date. Need the entire control module with fuse panel.

Ford part number is #3C3214B205AA (according to the parts dept. at the local dealer).

1. Does anyone know where I can get one of these?
2. And, has anyone run into an issue like this with a dealer only part that was an unknown release date???

This truck is dead in the water until I locate this part. Can anyone help? Thank you very much!

That PN you posted doesn't show up on a search on Autonation Ford White Bear Lake.
If you have an '02, it shouldn't have a GEM. Those functions were replaced by the VSM, and I believe some also integrated into the Instrument Panel module.
Maybe your parts department or the mechanic don't know as much as you give them credit for.

What are your symptoms that make you believe the GEM is dead?

GEMs (for 99-01 trucks) I believe have been on backorder for quite a while. A bad GEM on these trucks won't make them dead in the water.

If you can actually identify what part is bad on your truck, you may be able to get it repaired. There are services out there that repair PCMs, IDMs, GEMs, Instrument Panels, (and likely VSMs).

I have talked to three different dealers and Ford Corporate and they have confirmed the part number. The issue is that due to Covid, the manufacturers haven't been producing lots of different parts. Ford, Chrysler, and Chevrolet are having major backorder problems. I do appreciate the response, but it sounds like we're in a holding pattern until one of these parts turns up out of another truck or the manufacturer can produce some more. I'll respond to this thread once I know more about this issue. Thanks again!

Ford apparently needs to tell their own website that the PN is good.
Here's what I get from parts.ford.com

Why would your truck be inoperative with a dead GEM? You still haven't said what your symptoms are. 😕
