Have my 7.3 torn down since what started out as what i thought was going to be regular maintenance, has turned into a night mare, had to remove head for broken glow plug, then find where a exhaust valve was hitting piston. At that point I figured since I was that far into it I would pull engine and check the bottom end... Cam lobes have hard facing gone.. Crank just looked about normal for a engine with 236,000 miles... pistons mic'd a little undersized and piston to bore clearance on 6 cylinders are .002 and the other 2 which are 5 & 7 are at .004 all with in .002 out of round.

With all of that, my question is, should I bore the block and go oversized pistons or get new pistons and break the cylinder glaze and re cross hatch the cylinders.

thanks
roger

IMO, you don't need to bore it. If you have .004 clearance, that's not bad at all.
