First and foremost I would like to thank every body for responding to my question you all were VERY helpful!!! Thanks!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif Well here goes, Ggg6 said that I should check the turbine wheel for damage melting so I thought about it and said I will do that, and fix the exhaust leak before I take it to ford. So after A big battle the leak is fixed (new header bolts) so I removed the pipe off of the turbo and peered in with a very bright light, its like looking into a black hole!!! I found that the turbine wheel looked like as if a mouse got in there and chewed the fins right off of the wheel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOH!!!!, So let me back up as I was taking the inlet piping off there is a coil thingy looks like a heater? with a porcelain part in the middle of it well that was down in the intakes where the screens are, and one of the screens is broke also!!! so It looks like the heater broke and the screen broke and all of this went thought the motor and found it way to the turbo and broke that!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif also the part that broke in the intake was replaced and it looks like its new (no oil-n-stuff on it) so I would say that the people that sold this rollback knew about it and that makes me mad!!! So off to ebay I go to look for parts to fix my problems!! DOH!! Hey also how do the up tubes seal to the manifold on the back of the turbo they have those rings is that like a squish deal? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
Again thanks to all!!! Any body have a turbine wheel for sale? Any body have any directions for takeing the turbo apart? Tips tricks? Thanks!!! Doug

OUCH! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif, that's an awfully large piece to go through the engine and back out the turbo even if it got all chopped up. I immagine it has dome quite some damage.

I have never heard of one of those breaking off, but I guess it could happen. Given the luck I've been having, I'm glad I took that heater out.

I'll let someone with better knowlege awnser the technicals. good luck!

If I were you I would replace the whole turbo. There is a used one in the for sale section for $250. Not sure if it is still available though. That gives me another reason to take my intake air heater out.

This is the second post I have seen in a little over a year here at TDS where an IAH has broken off. The previous poster got Ford to replace the whole engine under warranty. Just another potential reason to move that useless POS.

An 03 should still be under waranty roll back or not.
Have you contacted a dealer?

I'm guessing even though it's an 03, that since it was a working truck, that it may have well exceeded the 100,000 mile limit.

yes, the dreaded up-pipe donuts are a pain in the butt to change. yes, there are gaskets in the 'V'. for me, the 2 bolts were frozen solid, so you might want to get another one, they are about 90 bucks, i think.

sorry about all your trouble!
