HEY GUYS,

This is my first post here, I was directed here from another site. Wow , alot of good info here. I thought I was the only one having major problems with the new 6.0 I have. When the thing is running good its a great work horse of a truck , much better at towing my equipment than the previous 7.3 I had.

Currently, my truck is at the dealer having new head gaskets, and turbo replaced. Should be done next week, been there for two weeks already.

While I was there today I decided to ask a salesman about a trade for an 05 version of the same truck, with there family deal going on low finnacing, looks like I could pull off a better deal than I have now.

If I decide to do this no mods will go on this truck.

So my question to all you guys in the better know than me , is the 05 performing better than the previous builds ? Should I dump this 04 due to all these problems? Or am I going to have same risk with the newer model ?

Thanks for any input,

i purchased my 2005 F250 6.0 just after new years. the truck is in stock forum with no mods. it hasn't even hickuped durring the 6 months i have had it. it has performed flawlessly. as far as i'm concerned it has plenty enough power while in stock forum to satisify me. gotta enjoy the factory warranty on an expensive truck also.

Welcome to the site. Was the previous truck modified? If the deal is good and there are all these other issues why not trade and leave it pretty much stock.

I've had mine 11 months now and over 12,000 miles with 5-6, 8000 lb tows. The truck is completely stock and I've had zero issues with it.

You'll love the tighter turning radius and much better brakes of the 05 if you make the switch. Given the family plan pricing in effect right now, its gotta be great deal.

Cotbow,
Welcome to The Diesel Stop. We're glad you're here.
I never had an earlier 6.0 liter Powerstroke so I don't have any basis for comparison, but I've had my '05 since January this year and it has been PERFECT. My truck has no performance mods. The only thing I've added is the gauge set (see sig). I really like the gauges and I would reccommend them to anyone - even if their truck is bone stock like mine.

Same here. My '05 has 13K in 9 months and I have had no problems at all and I spend a lot of time off road and pulling cow trailers. My only complaint is I'm only averaging 16.5 MPG vs. 18 in my 2002 7.3. I do remember reading somewhere that Ford made a bunch of improvements with the '05 6.0 which isn't surprising with a new engine. I think the Ford 6.0 are the best trucks on the road but to be honest, I would have been happy if they had just stuck with the old faithful 7.3.

Hey guys, thanks, for the input. Ive had my truck for 14 months and have put on 52k on it. I didnt start having problems with it until around 32k, then the flood gates opened. After spending a great deal of time on this forum reading about people having similar problems with and without mods has me wondering if Ford has made any improvemets on the system to alleviate these concerns in the current 6.0 models. I really depend on this truck for our business to pull a 30' gooseneck with our excavation equipment. This has caused some serious schedueling problems over the last few weeks and I wont have the truck back until sometime next week. I dont know if these modification made to the current truck are the leading cause for these problems or that the just increased the the time in which these problems surfaced. From all the reading here it seems that more people are satisfied with their truck who are running stock compared to the ones who are having problems and admit to ECM mods.

thanks,

cutbow

I have 30k on my '04 with zero problems and I run it hard. I was tempted to chip it but after talking to a few people it will never happen. It has plenty of power for towing and I just don't want to hassle with the problems. I can whip most cars as it is. Just curious if your problems started after you put the chip in it? Sounds like a fresh start at a better deal is the way to go. Good luck.

Got mine in March have 6K miles on it tow a 8500lbs toy hauler and have had zero problems, not even a sqeek. The OASIS report shows no factory recalls to date. I'm sure I didn't get the only good truck Ford has built. Try an 05 ! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
