Went out this morning started it up idled a few minutes then died. Restarted and it idles very rough I put it in reverse and idle was worse and eventually died. I let it sit for a while and restarted still doesn't idle correct I'm not seeing any colored smoke or any thing? It has no power under load. I checked codes and doesn't show any. Where should I start?

sounds like fuel pressure related...drain the fuel filter on the frame rail...then pull the filter and see what it looks like...how many miles on them?oem???load test both batts...I would also check the ficm voltage when the engine is cold, while cranking...b

It's definately fuel pressure related. Batteries new 2 months ago. I swapped out filters I did the top first and restarted ran a little rough then died like no fuel I figured I may have air in the system so I loosened the top a big surge of air came out so I repeated 2 times with air at both times but it still dies. So I started up again and put air nozzle in the fuel fill door with a rag around it to build some pressure and it seems to straighten out it idled good. I checked both caps no crackes on all the way etc. Somewhere some how the fuel system is getting air in and I can't figure it out. Any thoughts?

I checked FICM voltage cold and warm but not running it was at 48 both times. I also checked wire harness didn't come up with anything. EGR is related to smoking right? I'm not getting any smoke. Would it be possible that the catalytic convertor is plugged up?

first off...no to a clogged cat...we need to find out where the air in fuel is coming from...you either have a problem on the suction side/ air drawn in by a bad seal in the fuel line connections /or air on compression side/bad injector o-ring?or maybe even a broken injector internally...is the engine missing?...but don't panic form the comments I just posted...cycle the key 3-5 times to purge the air from the system and see if that corrects the problem...did you snap the filters into the caps before you installed them?problems i've seen in the past have been from the frame rail cap not being fully seated...always use w-d 40 on those o-rings,makes for easier removal and installation in the future...b

try the key cycle...if no go... then you may need a balloon test and may also have to check the upper fuel filter boss for air bubbles/ key on /without the engine running...to isolate the source of the air...b
