After all the reasearch here and on other sites, I took the plunge and orded my truck yesturday. They say it will be here in about eight to ten weeks. I am starting to get excited, but like when I ordered my Harley, I know it will only get worse.

Thanks everyone for your input and help. I'll post first impressions when it arrives.

Just go to the dealership and drool on other 6.0 Superduties until yours arrives. That's what I did every Sunday.

I did that while waiting 5 weeks for mine. It was torture and Mrs Firstrattler was getting upset that I drove her Thunderbird around as if it was a stickshift 1-2-D ... D-2-1.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Make sure you get the recalls taken care of before you pick it up. I just bought the wife an exsplorer and 7days later they sent me a letter saying I need to drop it off for the transmission recall! I was pissed because they had the truck for 3 days before I picked it up.

What all did you get on it ?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not too much actually. The only reason I was able to justify getting this beast is my wife is on the Xplan as a Ford affiliate. Even then, I tried to keep the cost down.

So here's the list.

2006 F-250 6.0 Crew Cab XLT
8ft box
4x4 manual shift
6spd handshaker
Roof lights
Capt chairs
Single CD
Limited Slip 3.73(though I know it is not to great of one)
Dark Stone Gray all one color
Hitch receiver

That is it fellas. No frills. Came to 37K after the Xplan.

I have a question for you. Do you know if your truck is going to come with a late 05 Engine or an actual 06 engine? I have no clue if there are even any differences between the two but since you are buying so early in the 06 model year I figured I would ask.

Thanks

Sounds like a nice truck. F350 SRW CC 4X4 6.0 6 spd. I like mine anyways.

I still think sometimes you can get a better deal just going straight to the fleet manager a few times and make him come down a few times than you can just going straight naked X-plan.

I ordered my 2006 4x4 f350 auto CC DRW about three weeks ago. They said it will be about 6 to 8 weeks. This long wait is killing me.

[/ QUOTE ]...Good mornin', how are you guys ordering 06's when Ford does'nt show them on their site??? thanx, Jimmy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Copy from my post.
Saw the truck at the dealer today. Waiting for paperwork to clear. Spent about 20 minutes looking things over. First time to see the "Billet" grille. The steps are curved like the 2003 model and have individual step pads but they "look" more substantial. The mirrors appear the same as the colored ones except the "color" is "chrome." I am leaving town on business and won't get to take it home for two weeks or so. The engine ID tag on passenger side valve cover states "2006."
I finally found a difference for the "Tow Boss" besides the price and gear ratios. I looked at about 10 different dual wheel F350's and the regular vehicles had a sheet metal differential cover. All of the "Tow Boss" trucks had a "Sand Cast" cover that looks similar to an after market cover.

X Plan is the discounted price given to those who work for Ford affiliate companies. My wife works for Digital Motorworks Inc. They do data programs for auto makers. There are two plans I believe that discount even further and they are for Ford workers and retirees. With the Xplan I get a percentage discount, plus any available discounts the dealer is running at time of purchase.

Hope this helps.
