I have a customer I sold a 2006 6.0L E350. about a month or so ago, he had a concern with the tranny shifting from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. Intermittently, it wouldn't want to shift up. We could not duplicate the condition, so he kept driving. Now every time it's cold, the engine will wind up when he takes off, then it doesn't want to shift up. If you let off the throttle while it's doing this, it sticks in first gear and there's a lot of whine from the turbo.
anybody got a clue? he's at 6,000 miles. this is one I haven't run across before. I would ask one of our techs, but they are so busy, I hate to bug them right now. The van is here and they're gonna look at it Monday am when it's cold.
