I have a 06 F350. I have an afe stage 1 intake/air filter, have done an egr delete and have a edge platinum chip. i have been experiencing a gradual decrease in boost pressure. under full load now i am only reaching around 20psi boost. i only put the chip in about 1 month ago. the independant mechanic i use believes it to be the exciter ring as he said he can force it past the 20psi. he says the ring can get notched out and cause it to stick.

the truck has 117,000kms on it and i have premium care so he advised me to try the dealer and see if they would warranty it as the chip should have no bearing on the turbo.

The dealer tech says he pulled chip and got 26psi boost. What is the actual boost under load supposed to be? This still seems low. He says is because of chip of coarse. Also says may have head gaskets gone and is adding to problem. I told them that the independant press tested it and vacuum tested it after the delete and there response was they had there best tech on it.

Another problem is after about -15C the cab won't heat up. they say due to low coolant level but there is still coolant in the degas bottle. when i brought it home checked the level and it was a little low (in bottom 1/4)but in his diagnosis shouldn't he have topped it up? After the first try on the egr delete the independant had to redo it as it had leaked so it is possible that it may be leaking again. Regardless some info would be great as it feels like i'm getting screwed as the dealer charged me $500 to do basically nothing!

Mine ran low boost for a few months, I forget what the fix was. Sorry.

talked to diesel tech at another dealership and he says that my chip should have no effect on my boost pressure but head gaskets are a deffinate possibility. He says that could be why my cab doesn't heat up unless under load. Anybody else have any info? My local dealer charged me 3.5 hours and said he unhooked my chip where the out of town dealer said it should've only been 1hr.

The chip shouldn't affect the turbo, but the AFE WILL! If you have a problem with the turbo at all, expect to hear form the dealer that you'll have to pay for it. The AFE, while a good unit is a modification that can affect turbo performance and be a VALID CAUSE FOR DENIAL OF WARRANTY REPAIR.

They had never mentioned anything about the filter. I have had that filter in the truck since the day i got it brand new and swap with a clean one avery couple months. At any rate i spoke to the service manager and he is looking into it as they shouldn't have charged me so many hours unless they had actually performed diag. the problem being they never reported any findings ie press tests etc.

That may have been my issue. I reflashed with SCT without resetting it and dumped the old cal back in it or something like that.. If a dealer updates your tune you must clear your SCT or it will reload your old cal...

the edge i have is a chip not a programmer. I went in and talked to the tech directly and seen his diag sheet. said had code P2263 which was low boost which i never had show up on the chip. after pulling the chip he has 0.5 @ 0% VGT and 1.5 @ 85% VGT. he says that this is the first chip he pulled that has affected boost.
