Need help guys, I just bought this truck and cannot afford major issues right now... 08 6.4 has 160k on it.

The truck ran great, I've put maybe 150 miles on it since owning it. At first I heard a chirping coming from the rear of the engine only when warm. My local tech said probably was down pipe leak. I did not agree but didnt pay for further diagnosis.

Today I went to pull my trailer and the truck started sounding loud and running like crap. It will barely even pull itself down the road. Only code stored is p0306. I'm at a loss for what to do next. Has anybody experienced a similar issue with their 6.4? I'm afraid the truck maybe dropped a valve or something...

lifter, cam, rocker arm...? not good if a lifter and cam

The chirping that the truck was doing did indeed sound like a worn rocker arm camshaft as per a vid I'd seen on YouTube.

The tone completely changed and now it's misfiring heavily... The chirping was coming from the passenger side rear bank area. I don't know the 6.4 firing order so I don't know if that's where cyl 6 is or not

#6 cyl, 3rd from front, left hand bank.

Thanks. This was the opposite bank that I had heard the chirping and occasional hiss come from. I'm thinking probably broke a rocker/ lifter but guess I will have to pay a shop to verify.

Cranked this truck up today and it ran great around the block. I don't understand what could cause an intermittent misfire, maybe I should check the harness?
