I think I need new rims, 16"

I am putting on goodyear 235/85R16 14 ply tires 110 psi I think the standard rims are not enough to handle the high pressure. I can not find any rating stamped on the rims.

WHere is a good source for rims for my dexter axles??

The load rating is the key. On a 16"x6" wheel, a load rating of 3,315 pounds = 110 PSI. A load rating of 3,042 pounds = 80 PSI.

Go to southwestwheel.com They are a sponser here. They have the 16X7 Alcoas with the 110psi and 3750lb max rating that those LT235/85-16G tires require at full load. You can not correlate the maximum pressure of trailer wheels with just a load rating or vice versa. A dedicated trailer tire ST235/80-16E has a load rating of 3420lbs at 80 psi. Always check both psi AND lbs on both tires AND wheels to make sure that no ratings are exceeded.

Are your wheels 6 or 8 lug? According to Dexter's wheel division you have to go 8 lug to get 110 PSI rating at 3750 lbs. IOW if you are just getting stronger tires with 6 lug rims you can't do 110 PSI to take advantage of the tire....

I just went through a big hassle with a 14,000 lb gross dump trailer I bought new with only 12,000 something total rated tires on it...so I'm up on this right now

They are 8 lug rims . Alcoa's are not in my budget right now.

4 new G rated tires 800.00 or so
Rims 250.00
4 new drums and brakes 500.00 or so

now I am out of money
