I'm trying to find the location to hook up my 12 volt aux power leadcharge line to my camper. I have a slide in camper and have the lights all working, just no charge line. Is there a fuse location that some knows where it might be? I'm thinking there maybe a missing fuse or something. I've checked other post trying to find out info, and have found that sometimes it just isn't there from the factory and needs a fuse to make work. BUT, no post I've read really talks about the location of this. I do have the factory brake controller and 7-pin at the hitch, and my truck also does have the camper package, if it helps. any info would be great, and of course photos do speak a thousand words. yes?

Not really sure about hooking up a slide in camper, but for my trailer I use the trailer battery charge line going to the 7 pin trailer connector.

30 amp fuse #44 in the engine compartment fuse box, page 305 in the trucks manual.

The battery charge line is controlled by a relay # 56 in the same fuse box, on page 306 in the manual. Not sure if it is live all the time?

I'm not trying to hook up the slide, just charge my batteries as i travel to wherever I'm going. I'll take a look at those in the morning. Thank you for the info. BTW, what manual you referring to? Ford shop manual or another?

The fuses I wrote are for charging a trailer battery when traveling and 30 amps to run things in the trailer when connected. I read it in the truck manual. This power will shut off before the truck batteries run down to a point that they won't start the truck.

Thanks for the help. I did find I had a bad relay. Fuse was good, just swaped out with another and found the relay didn't work. Now after looking how the fools hooked up the wiring for it, I think I'm going to look into a 5 wheel type hook-up. I don't like the scotch patch type of splice. I think there's a better way to do it.

But thanks for the refrence of the manual. Sometimes the most obvious is hardest to see.

I use a "Y" type harness I made up with my TC. It plugs into the regular 7pin trailer connection, provides a 7pin receptacle there on a short cord for a trailer, and another 7pin receptacle for the camper on about 8' of cord. Torklift and probably others sell a cable assembly like this as well.

yes fuse 44 in the engine compartment is the correct fuse. now mine has blown 2 times while pulling my slides on my camper in...is there anything else drawing current on this fuse? it should not blow under normal operation.

I don’t think there is anything else on that fuse? But if you’re not letting the trailer batteries help with the slide, I wouldn’t be surprised if it blew a few times. The length of the wire and motor starting current is a big draw and I wouldn’t consider it normal. Usually motor fuses are dual element and time delay.

thanks. the trailer is charging properly. and fuses have not blown any more. it just seems when i had electric slides the truck put them out and pulled them in fine. these hydraulic ones just don't do that. lesson learned. thanks again.
