About time to change my fuel filter. Still 2-3k away from my mileage time.
I follow the maint. schedule of doing this every 15k.
I pulled my camper recently and power was a good bit down on hills.
Runs good until motor is under a heavy load. Then just not as strong pulling as usual.
I moved the truck the next day, unloaded, with the front wheels in a 8" dip, truck would rev up but seemed to have weak power backing up.
It was fine after engine warmed up, temps were in the 60's.
Does a fuel filter start showing it's time to change with these symptoms?
Everything else is OK, no codes or issues.
Only 57k total on truck. I try to drive it at least 30 miles a week.
Could it be the new ULSD fuel?
Does the ULSD fuel last like the fuel we had before?
I sure know that today's gasoline does not.
I ran Lucas fuel treatment on my last tank fill up from November, 60 days ago.
Does any one dump straight fuel conditioner into the new filter before putting the lid back on? Would this help or hurt?
Thanks for any info you can share.

All it takes is one tank of bad fuel and you can forget about those 15k mile change guidelines. That's why it's advisable to carry a spare with you when traveling. Could also be clogged filter screens in the tank.

WHen I change the filter I put a can of Sea Foam in the filter housing then the filter. I then run it for a minute and shut it off letting it sit overnight.
