Have a 15 6.7 nearing 20k and I would just feel more comfortable deleting it for the safety of me and my engine. By all means its nice not having my nose burn standing next to my truck now but I just dont have the safety feeling.

I've spent enough time looking and researching on the forms about deleting to finally decide I'm okay with it. My main concern is the loudness of the truck at this point. I am aware of the exhaust systems that are sold to replace existing dpf back and they include a muffler but I would like to keep the stock tip if possible. why you may ask? Because I am a worrisome freak and am worried about getting pulled over for having a tuned truck. Yes I know that that NEVER happens but who knows what the future will hold with all the tree huggers gaining more power as the years go on. I dont want to have to be messing with it again in 5 years.

Should I just be looking into a delete pipe that I can cut and add a 4" muffler in the middle of it or do they sell systems for what I looking to do?

Does anyone see any problems with me running a muffler? I'm not in any way shape or form after performance, I will be running the closest to stock tune I can find.

Which mufflers should I be looking into to keep the sound as close to stock as possible. I am mainly interested in a quiet truck for driver comfort and because I plow hundreds of driveways in the winter months mainly between 1 and 7 AM!!!

Thanks!

You can get just a dpf delete pipe that replaced the DPF and retains the stock pipe from turbo to DPF and from after DPF to stock tips. That is what my plan was... just one small section of pipe to replace, not cutting.

On PS.org there is a vendor there by the name of BigrPwr that sells everything you need. I was quoted a price of about $1,200 for tuner, DPF delete as you wanted and EGR block off shipped.

Very interested in this as well for trucks sake. What about smoke once deleted with as close to factory hp tune as possible?
Just because you delete does not mean you have to increase your power. You can get a tune that keeps factory power the same and only reprograms for the DPF being deleted. That is what I was thinking as well just to retain longevity. You may see a little puff here and there depending on how you romp on it with stock setting but you really shouldn't notice much. It's all in the tune, not the motor that creates the smoke. Excess smoke is unburnt fuel and $$$ just being thrown out. A great tune should not generate much smoke. From everything that I have read, PIP tunes are one of the best.

I recently deleted my 13 model and kept the stock tip. I bought the delete pipe and tuner online. Once installed I had a flowmaster hush lower muffler installed. It was considerably quieter than the straight pipe, but not enough for me. I had my shop order another muffler that was short enough to fit with the flowmaster. I'm now running two mufflers and there's a slight rumble at idle similar to a gas burner. I can't hear it in the cab at all, whether at idle, full throttle or in between. With the tuner set at stick lower there's hardly any smoke at all, but the old school diesel smell is definitely there. PM me and I'll give you the info on the tuner and where to buy it.

Thanks guys for the input! Its not so much the parts I need, I was quoted 1150 for everything which im okay with because its a buddy. I'm more interested on what products I need to keep this bad boy quiet. I plan on only getting a flo pro delete pipe to fit in the dpf's location I was just looking for information on how to get a muffler into that mix, what are people doing? are they cutting that delete pipe and adding mufflers? Are they using clamps or welding? what brand? what size? baffles or fiberglass?

i went the delete pipe route and to be honest with you it is louder than stock! you will need a muffler if you want to quiet it down a bit. Defenitely more rumble when you turn it on, and then becomes a hiss, not sure if you've heard these deleted trucks before. It's not obnoxious, just louder, but you can really hear it when you get on the skinny pedal. and yes BigrPwr on PS.ORg can help you get what you need, he took care of me as well. just a heads up Spartan is back in the mix on these 15's. A little late to the party, but been hearing good things, especially on the trans tuning.

also i'm running a higher HP tune and don't get any smoke. I do not race, or get on her heavy from a dead stop at all. i just drive.. why the bigger HP tune? i've seen that i get better MPG's with them, if i stay off the skinny pedal.

If you dig and do enough diligent reading in all of the PowerStroke forums on the 'webs' that you can bare to read; you will find that more trucks have been destroyed by "improvements" than those left stock and well maintained. I will never buy a truck that i know has been "improved" by a 'blowin' smoke genius'! If you are really interested in the 'safety for your truck'---- leave it alone and maintain it as specified in the owner's manual. Never use fuel from an equipment field tank or drum, use the lowest bio fuel ratio that you can find and check for WIF at the water separator every month; two weeks is better. These trucks are already 'pushing the envelope' with cylinder pressure; tuning one, can shorten the life or even destroy one in short order.

When you can understand the difference in mechanical injection vs these high injection and high combustion pressure engines, you will realize that the small time diesel mechanics that worked on the 5.9 cummins and the 7.3 Ford, usually do not 'have a clue'.
