I have installed the towing program in my 2002 7.3 it seems to be alot more reponsive however the shifting is firm but a little rougher than before just what does this program do the the stock program and the engine? I will be hauling a fifth wheel and I know to not push it uphill I will monitor the trans temp untill I can get boost and exhaust gages.I only have a little bit of the blue ridge to go though and they didn't even cause me to shift out of overdrive but a couple of times.

i would be careful towing anything with the SC tuner without gauges. I can get my EGT's high enough to be concerned with a light load going up any grade. Get gauges first, then tune and tow.

I haven't towed yet with the 1705 on tow safe, but empty I can see egts up to 950 going up hills. I will start towing in the next month and see how warm things get dragging a 7000lb car hauler fully loaded.

Its best to play it safe and monitor the trans and egts.

Seems like all tunes increase the fuel qty and timing for more power.
SC supposedly also increases the tranny line pressure for firmer shifts.
If you will tow a lot, you might also consider a shift kit. But get more gages first.

My .02!!! Bought my 01 F350 CC 2WD DRW with a 1705 Superchips installed also had trans temp gauge. I used this to tow my 17k 5th wheel for approximately 2800 miles through western colorado, Nevada, and into Southern Cal, before heading home to Arizona. I thought it worked good, except I had some TC issues when pulling some mountains, and some rather warm trans temps in heavy stop and go traffic.

Flash forward, just got back from John Woods shop (new Towmaster tranny) and DP tuner. After the Tranny was installed drove the truck with the Superchips in, drove good trans worked well nice shifts. Went back to the shop installed DP tuner, test drove truck it drove fantastic shifts were smoother, acceleration smoother and this was even in the 80 tow tune. The 200 mile trip home, trans ran 20 degrees cooler, and I got 2 MPG increase, and still managed to put a little smoke out at times (couldn't resist, new toy and all). Can't wait to hook up the trailer and hit Eisenhower tunnel on I70.

my .02 worth junk the Superchips get gauges and a DPtuner
