So here's the deal. I have a 1977 ford. It's been in the family for a while, great, straight body, paint. The engine is very tired and the rest of the truck has seen it's better days. It also sucks down fuel. I also make biodiesel for my other rig. I was thinking about buying a 1987 ford f350 6.9 with a very ugly body. Then switching over the bed, cab, and all the body, and front end from the 77. So basically it's an 87 that looks like a 77. Time and moneywise probably doesn't make much sense, but I love the look of the 77 so much. I'm guessing lots of time and fab work but what else can I expect? Or is this just a fantasy?

put the 6.9 in the 77, the frames are different widths, body mounts would have to be made. a engine swap is way easier.

A few people, including Tim (Idieselman) have already done that engine swap. There should be plenty of support for doing it.
