1994 F350 Won't turn over

I am new to the forum and have a 1994 F-350 with 7.3 Powerstroke I've had for years. I replaced the batteries in January just because they were old and slow and drove the truck a few times. It then sat for 3 weeks when I discovered I left my back up camera (add on) turned on. The batteries were dead so I charged them. I then turned on the key, lights came on the dash as usual, but when I turned the key nothing happened. I went to the solenoid and jumped the terminals and it turned over. I then turned the key to the start position and jumped the terminals again and it started. This surprised me since I thought the clutch pedal needed to be pushed down for that to happen. Am I looking at a bad ignition switch that is just a coincidence after sitting?

If you are jumping the terminals on the solenoid on the fender then you are bypassing any safety features such as the clutch pedal switch.
