I just put a napa GPR in my 1996. It seems fine, but my alt guage never goes back to the middle after i installed it. It just stays over where it is when the glow plugs are turned on. I cant find anything on the relay making them stay on all the time. I just had new glow plus put in, and a GPR that went south in 2 weeks. Any help would be great. Thanks

After two min. the alt guage returns to its normal position in the center. If the glow plugs are on you can see them pulling power in the guage. Is that what you are asking? Mine is not returning to the center after 2 min. I have only been on 15 min drives but the guage stays in the position it's in when the plugs are on and pulling power.

You may have a starter relay . GP 109 is what you need...

Wrong relay. I did that once. Well the house gave me the wrong one.

You drove for 15 min many times like that? If so I would check all the wiring under the valve covers.

For what it's worth...after going through 2 Ford GPRs (about $75 each wholesale) a year for a few years, I started using the Sorensen MR99 relay (I think it was around $12). I bought two at a discount auto parts store. One to install and one to keep behind the back seat. That was about 5 years ago. There's still one behind the seat. I learned that little trick here of course, at the Diesel Stop.

Never experienced your problem though.
