Is there a difference in the early 1999 and the 1999.5 stock air box? I had my 1999.5 parked beside my buddy's 1999. My air box was bigger and sucked air from the front and not the fender. I'm just want to know that my 1999.5 is stock and not a mod that the previous owner had done. I hope to change the stock air box and exhaust soon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
Thanks.

You have the newer improved design. The original early 99's had the one that sucked air from the fender and also took different filters, they were an inferior design.

Be a pal and tell your buddy to change it out, sooner the better.

Yep,, cost is about 80.00 from the dealer for the WHOLE KIT. Or he could go with a TYMAR type,,and be better than you then!! LOL

Try $150. I got one by mistake when I was trying to order the AIS Severe Duty filter kit.

Didn't seal well, didn't breathe well, and took air (& dirt and water) from under the fender.

My early 99 K&N likes to look like THIS.

But it cleans up nice like THIS.

I've found in my experience that if you spend time and are thorough and patient, you can get it to seal well and not pass dirt. I'm only saying that because my turbo wheel looked nice, new, and shiny after running the K&N for 150K+. I also did not find any dust or dirt in the air intake tract. Some people have had bad experiences though.
