Sometimes my 99 powerstroke just quits running without any warning (always at idle). No shuddering or missing just all of a sudden dead. It has no problem restarting. This might happen twice weekly or not at all for a couple months. Sometimes while I'm driving at highway speed it will jerk. If it does this more than once my check engine light illuminates. A mechanic told me that it was probably water in my fuel. So I changed the fuel filter, drained the canister around the filter, and poured an additive into my tank, but my truck still takes a completely random nap on me sometimes at low idle. Any ideas, Thanks Scott

Wow, sounds like some sort of loose wire or short maybe. But, have you tried changing out the CPS? That is always a good place to start.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I checked out that website and it is very imformative. Just some info: I called my local Ford dealership, the CPS $199.45 I checked on Ebay, $28.95 free shipping. Same part number, same sensor. Strange huh?

New part came out on May 1. Some dealerships will not order the new part till they sell all of the old part. Good dealers will do the same thing, but sell the old part for the new part price.
