Bought a F350 Saturday afternoon to replace my problems on my other vehicle. The sales manager was very sympathetic to my repeat visits to the shop without results. So basically we discussed options of the Lemon Law and trade in. We crunched the numbers and included the time factor to lemon it out, and I decided to trade instead of wait. The dealership really came through for me on price (way below invoice) and an ok trade plus rebates, (Superduty owner loyalty and business @ $2300).
Got the new truck home and later that evening I took it out again for a drive and it starts squealing during acceleration like it has a bad belt. Took it in Monday and the drove the tech around and he determined that it sounded like it was behind the dash.
He took apart the dash and found that it was the heater core. No big deal right? No such luck. He called Ford for an update on easier fixes than a straight replace and Ford told him not to replace the core since it would do no good. This was the first time my dealership had an issue with the core so they didn't realize that others had had this problem. The service manager showed me a statement from Ford that there is no fix for this problem and no work is to be done at this time. They will advise in the future!!!! P.S. This will not impair engine performance.
So I went right to the Sales Manager and upon telling him this he tells me not to even bother with it and allows me to go pick another truck!!
OK. Beats listening to a squeal until Ford finds a cure.
So I find a really nice F250 KR with a moonroof and more money than my 350 and he justs writes it for the same price. Keep in mind that these guys did not have to do anything for me even on my first truck. They basically fixed my problem with the manufacturer.
So far, I have had two very strange problems that no one can seem to fix. So hoping 3rd time is the charm. But I am not here bashing Ford or the 6.4 motor. In fact, I really like this truck when it runs well. So far the 250 is perfect. Not sure if I can mention a dealership on this site, but the dealer in Brandon, Fl. has my business for life as long as Ford does not totally blow it.
