Hey guys I can't figure out how to make a new post so here it goes.

We have a 2000 ford 550 rollback with the 7.3 the truck was running like crap so my husband changed the air and fuel filters. Someone suggested using the diesel clean treatment as well. There was smoke pouring out of the exhaust and the truck would start and left him stranded until the wrecker got there to tow it back to our base location. Now we have a partially disabled truck in our driveway that when plugged in to electric will start but after five to ten minutes will start running rough and shut itself off. Air bound? Or air locked? It won't stay running and when it is running for the few minutes it runs like crap. Any help would be amazing

Sounds like no fuel pressure. You could put a gauge on out or just open the drain on the fuel filter housing and cycle the key. See how well it flows.

How much fuel is in the tank?

But what kind of pressure is there? The way the injectors work, they will kind of siphon fuel and allow the truck to run (albeit badly) for a bit. You need 60 psi of fuel pressure to have full power.

Another possibility would be a UVCH connection issue. Does the truck idle smoothly or is it bucking while its running - like its running on half a bank of cylinders?

Which would indicate its not getting fuel. That could either be because there is no fuel pressure or the parameters the PCM requires to fuel the injectors aren't being met. Oil pressure is one of those - you need at least 500 psi of high pressure oil pressure before the PCM will fire the injectors. Check the oil level in the motor and check that the IPR valve tin nut is still in place. If those are good, try running with the ICP sensor unplugged. Still, I'm leaning towards no fuel pressure. See if the fuel pump appears to be running when the key is cycled.

Also - if he sprays ether while the glow plugs are energized, you run the risk of blowing the motor up. Then you won't have to worry about why it won't run.

Do not use ether ever!!

Sounds like a fuel issue then. Like RT said just because it has fuel at the bowl doesn't mean it's enough fuel.
