2001 7.3 6 Speed - Clutch issue??? Help
Hello guys,

My daily driver is down and I'm having trouble finding my symptoms in the search feature.

I have a south bend clutch in my truck with maybe 40k on it.

(1) After starting my truck and getting ready to put it in gear today. I felt a little "pop" through the pedal.

(2) The pedal doesn't feel nearly as stiff as it did.

(3) the clutch lets out right close to the top now.

(4) in fourth or 3rd gear when I step on it, it feels like the clutch is slipping.

(5) the slave cylinder looks good, no fluid leak (pulled it out and it seems to be functioning ok???

(6) fluid in resevoir seems to be fine.

Am I pulling the transmission? to replace the fork or the throw out bearing? or is it something else I'm missing?

Ok, pulled the transmission....

Fork; looks nice and straight not bend or fatigue marks.

The clutch on the other hand looks pretty worn. I'm thinking this Southbend clutch might not have had enough jam to hold this baby together and was slipping. I've got maybe 50,000 km's on it which is really light.

No Hot spots (blued) that I can see but definitely had a few wear spots.

Throw out bearing looks good as well. I'll post some pics....

That clutch is definitely toast. The install instructions tell you to tap the fingers down so that are all at the same height. Or something may have broken in the pressure plate to cause those fingers to stand too high.
