Strange problem......I have a 2001 F-250 7.3 that will start up, idle and drive approximately 10 miles and then it will act as though it is running out of fuel. I have replaced the lift pump and checked the filter. If I punch the throttle it will accelerate and then start to act the same way earlier than 10 miles. I am really stumped. there is plenty of fuel getting to the filter bowl and I just cant seem to figure it out..........any ideas???? Thanks.

off the top of my head....

- air being pulled into fuel lines

- clogged screens in the tank

You need to put a fuel pressure gauge on the post filter side of the bowl and watch it when the engine acts up.

Agreed. I can remember some years back someone on this forum stated that a fuel pressure gauge was the most useless gauge you could waste your money and space on. I disagreed at the time and as these trucks continue to age I now not only still disagree but I feel that a FP gauge is one of the most important gauges to have. You can spend lots of time and money trying to figure out if it is a fuel delivery problem or you can glance at the gauge and know right away.

Check the rubber fuel line where it comes out of the tank and goes to the frame. It rubs against the frame and makes a spot in the hose to suck air.
