I have a 01 with the 4r100 trans. last week the shifter tube had alot of play while i was plowing. to get it to shift into 3rd i would have to move shifter around. brought home changed tube and since it will not start off the ignition, in park or neutral and it will not shift into 3rd. was told it could be the trans solenoid shift pack, so dropped the pan and changed that. no difference. no matter how i adjust the cable on the trans end, still can not start off the key. if i manually pull the lever on trans all the way into park it will start then. before changing shift tube due to those issues, trans was super strong and never missed a beat. hoping i am overlooking something. Any ideas?

Have you checked under the dash for loose bolts? Seems pretty common for the bolts to come loose where the shifter tube connects to the metal section under the dash, that can cause issues like you described.
