Hello all. I am new to the forum and am having stalling issues with a truck I had picked up a couple of months back. The symptom is it will stall once or twice a day while the vehicle is at idle rpm. it can happen while sitting at a traffic light or when I have taken my foot off the pedal and coasting on the freeway. Operating temp does not seem to be a factor. I have replaced the CPS. The one that I pulled out was grey and the eBay one I replaced it with was also grey. This seemed to have no impact on the problem. I have a bluetooth OBDII device with torque that I have attempted to pull any codes off the computer with but it seems the truck stalls when I attempt to pull any codes or reset them. Not sure which direction to go at this point. The truck has 410,000 miles on it but otherwise seems to be running great. Ideas?

First get a good CPS. Ebay is cheaper for a reason. Next look for chaffing on harness over drivers valve cover. It likes to rub thru and cause all kinds of problems. I dont know about torque apps or such I use Scangauge II and works pretty well.

This.

Go to Ford or International and get one. They are around $25 from Ford. The aftermarket units have a very bad rep for quality and reliability.

Thanks for the information. I picked up the ELCHIN ECHCSS1103 which I installed and so far so good. It has not stalled so far since the install. I ordered the F4TZ-12K073-C on order which I will keep as a spare. I will be installing the beads on the wiper power lines this weekend to prevent the intermittent wiper issues. What seems to be the preferred OBDII tool to talk to the computer in this truck? The one that I have seems to cause the truck to stall. It is a bluetooth dongle that interfaces with an android app (Torque).

As I said I use Scan Gauge II. It works fairly well for as cheap as it is. For more in depth diagnostics most here use AE (auto enginuity) on their laptop.

Make sure you do the fix for the napa CPS.

the SG2 is good and not to expensive. you can also get the torque pro app and buy the ELC327 from ebay. I have a 7" screen radio witch is WIFI, the ELC327 and torque pro app on the radio so I get all the reading on my radio screen

It's that torque app, the joy is over with my new toy, gonna have to get a better diagnostic system , it also will mess with your computer and light up your check engine lite, and won't even pull up the code when you scan it. I scanned with my 10 year old Wal-Mart scanner and it gave me a code of p0603 or 6 . And you can only clear it with a factory scanner. Through your torque app away, delete. It is junk

Mine is working great still. For detailed diagnostics I use FORSCAN with the same hardware, but run Torque on my truck daily.

Above is the link to FORSCAN. If you are done with torque, I suggest that you switch to FORSCAN.
