Hey Guys,

Have a 2001 7.3 power stroke that when started cold, runs great for about the first 15 minutes or 10 miles or so. Then it will start skipping and running rough until it finally dies. Give it about 10 minutes sitting and it will start and run fine for about another 10 minutes or so. I did notice that when it start to decelerate the throttle control starts to go away til it dies. I have changed the fuel filter, the ipm module and cam sensor and still same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

When you say cam sensor so you mean the $25 crank sensor on the front of the engine? If not replace that and carry a spare in the glove box. That fixed mine. Also check fuel pressure, could be an hpop issue

Unplug the ICP sensor and see if it makes a difference. Do you have any way to check fuel pressure? Does it perform ok on the road? Plenty of power? The IPM module you changed - was that the IDM in the driver's side fenderwell?

Yes I replace the one on the front of the engine, no change and also yes it was the IDM Module in the fender well and no change. Plenty of power until it starts to skip and then no power. Gonna drop the tank and change the filter in the pickup unit and also put a new pickup on the unit that usually breaks off and clean the tank. Thanks for all of the help with this issue, I really appreciate any input.
