Has anyone ever attempted to put a hood tilt modification on their truck? I searched on line for pics and found just about everything else except a hood tilt on a 99-03 powerstroke. Mine is a 2001.

I would kill for a mod like that... never found any examples on line of it done though. Post if you come up with something.

I must not have google searched correctly because the only thing I can find on "hood tilt" are photos of vehicles that look like they suffered a front end collision and were poorly repaired.

What is "hood tilt" ?

I have seen it done but there is a lot of work to do it. It has been a number of years since I have seen the pictures, I believe that a member on here also did it.

It may be cost prohibitive and not a very useful mod. I think it would look good but as Arctic Driver noted, you can't step on the bumper to get on top of the engine. I think, however, it would be easier to get to the back of the engine and to the lower parts of the engine. I think my mod would have to include a way to totally remove the hood section so I could get access to the whole engine bay.

Guys, take another look at those pics, click through all of em. Tell me you wouldn't like to be able to stand beside the block and change your GP's or an injector, find an oil leak, change an A/C pump or P/S pump. Even head gaskets would be easier without lifting the cab. Picture sliding in behind the front wheel next to the engine to service it.

Also, if it could be pinned on the hinges so the whole clip could be removed easily, how great would that be. Who would want to balance themselves on a bumper if you could stand on the ground not hunched over.

I'm failing to see a downside to this for service work... now for rolling down the road, my fear is how do you get that clip latched down tight enough that it doesn't rattle around like a pair of jeans in a dryer.

Open the hood on a real truck, a class 8, and see what it's like.

I would love to find that thread, I've never seen a SD done.

Remember way back when a lot of them members on here were doing all kinds of different things with their trucks, it was in one of those kind of threads.

I tried a couple of searches but didn't come up with anything and I am sure that it has been archived years ago.
