Hey Guys

I have been reading the gas boards.
I am looking for a truck.
I could smack myself for selling my '02. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I was looking for another 7.3, but I saw a v10 for about $10-12k less.
That will buy alot of gas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

So , guys what should I look for?
I know about the plug deal. I had that happen on my Expy.

Oops the truck is '01 F250 cc short v10

Thanks

I'd be interested in seeing maintanence records if available. 110k on a well cared for (regular fluid changes,etc...) truck is nothing. Plugs should have been or should be changed. The other issues are the same as a PSD equipped rig.

I'm with Robb. 110K is nothing to be concerned about as long as it's been taken care of.

Odds are in your favor that most of the miles were highway - 110K in 4 or 5 years is between 22K - 27K/year. That's a lot of miles for running around town and short trips, so chances are good most of those miles were highway. Highway miles are the easiest kind of miles to put on a vehicle, even if it's loaded heavy. I'll take a high mileage vehicle with easy miles over a low mileage one with short trips any day.

Look it over good - is the pad on the brake pedal worn out? Drivers seat pretty beat up? These are usually good indicators of a lot of time spent running short distances.

Don't buy into the hype that the diesel guys spew about a gas motor needing a rebuild at 100K. If it's been taken care of (and you continue to take care of it) you should easily get another 100K out of it.

It is my fault. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I waited to long. I have been driving my 7.3 for years.
I am lost when it comes to these gassers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

my V-10 has 110K, I'd drive it to south Florida tomorrow without a worry. The plugs may have been changed, if not, check out the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum and do a search on the V-10 site. The #1 problem with throwing plugs out of some of the mod-motors has been incorrectly installed plugs. I love my V-10, it's a rocket in a big truck and it gets decent mileage while pulling a mountain of weight, good luck. With diesel fuel prices the V-10 is becming a hot commodity, plus there is the BSEG club that only having a V-10 Ford gains you entrance into,,,,Ken
