I posted this on another thread I started, but thought I would post this in this towing section in case some might need to see it.

My long time Ford mechanic friend from church kept telling me, "You need to switch out your 2002 tow mirrors to 2008 tow mirrors. You will be amazed at the viewing area compared to your OE mirrors". And they are a direct fit.

Being one who likes to kept the OE look of my beloved truck, I was slow to change. FINALLY I decided, at my age, I needed all the help I could get towing. So I made the plunge and bought a pair of 2008 mirrors. And they look fine.

Let me tell you folks, the increased viewing area is amazing. It is like looking out an airplane hanger door. And they are a definate help towing! I would make the change again in a heartbeat.

Thought I would share this with those, who like me, need a little more help towing as we age.

The glass surface is larger, the mirrors are more stylish IMO, and the running lights and turn signals should help other drivers take notice. I was surprised how far mine extended for towing and aids with the rear view with the Dually fenders 👍

I particularly like the larger lower curved convex mirror, which like the larger upper mirror, gives more visibility.

And truly, I have grown to like their looks much more than the smaller factory OE mirrors.

Just shows one can never be too old to like change.

I was truly amazed how much I have grown to like these mirrors. They really make a big difference for my towing needs.

Where did you get them? I hate the blind spot I have with my stock mirrors. How did you tie in to the turn signals and running lights?

On my Suburban, I replaced the OEM single mirrors which were too small, with the Double Post mirrors that have a large flat mirror on top, and a smaller convex mirror in the bottom 1/4 of the fixture.

the small one I have aimed so I can see the curbs behind me backing up.

love the Double Post fixture, push in for daily driving, pull out for Towing.

I bought mine from Rock Auto for a Silverado later year model pickup.
the mounting holes were exactly the same.

On mine, I purchased the Trail Ridge mirrors through 1A Auto and am happy with their quality for being aftermarket. I paid $500. for the pair, instead of $1000.for the Ford OEM ones.

I had previously pulled wires back from the front parking (running) lights and turn signals down to the sill plates on both sides for my running boards, so tying in for those for the mirrors was super simple. iIn addition I had to run power for the heated glass, power fold, and making an adapter for the mirror functions - (Up/Down/Left/Right)

I got mine through 1A Auto also. And been very happy with their quality as well as 1A's service & warranty.
Mine do not have lights or turn signals. My truck is an XLT.
