Occasionally when hitting a bump my truck will squeal for a breif second. I have also started to notice that it will also do it when i shut the truck down. Is this a sign that the serpentine belt needs to be changed, or I have a tensioner issue?

Could be, does it squeal on long hard pulls? Mine did, look at the flat surfices on all the pullys where the belt rides. If they are burnt or has chunks of rubber on them you need to clean them good and replace the belt. While the belt is off you can check the tensioner and the other idler pullys for bearings. Look close at the right, back side of the tensioner behind the pully and there should be a 1/4" bar across the top. Mine rusted off and let the tensioner roll back and loosen the tension a little. I used the JK8 1223 AA belt instead of the 1227 because it's 1/2" shorter and no one could tell me not to. It's for the cold weather package and one could tell me for sure what the difference is. It gets cold here so ergo---

OPPS!!!
Upon further checking I found out the bar on the back of the belt tensioner comes of when you pull the tension back to install the belt. Expensive mistake, I thought mine was broke :(
