i have a 03 6.0 and was wondering if removing the butterfly valve has any benefit and if so does this trigger a check engine light?

There is a throttle plate in the intake manifold. I don't know if removing it will trigger a check engine light, but I do know it was deleted by the time they started making 2004 models.
There isn't a butterfly valve in the exhaust like the 7.3L had.

i just worked on my friends 04 and it had a throttle plate in the intake manifold, it is a later 04 not sure on the build date but it doesn't have an 03 turbo. i was also wondering what it does, i have never seen another diesel with anything in the manifold. i guess it would work good as an air shut off valve

I removed mine on my '04 with no issues. I was told that it worked with the EGR system somehow to allow more flow from the EGR system.

When installing my CFM+ intake elbow it called to remove it and no check engine light came on and know more egr valve problems on my 04. when the butterfly closes hot gases from the exhaust soot goes thru the engine with the butterfly off it can't and i think is see cleaner oil at oil change.

thx..i was wondering cause i was going to get a cfm and was reading that it called for the delete of the butterfly and i didnt want another CEL from another aftermarket poroduct. I already have that problem with my Air Intake throwin a P006

On my 04 it did throw a code but know light you might ask cfm about the 03
