Okay so two questions. First I was driving down the road and I got on it a little and then the transmission started jerking and shifting hard and didn't want to go over a certain gear. The abs light came on and the speedo was jumping all over the place pulled over turned around to pull it into a place to check everything the truck died and wouldn't start, then I towed it to the local diesel shop and they replaced the fan clutch and they got it running again, we'll the abs light is still on and the speedo doesn't work and when it does it just jumps around then ends up quiting? I've put more money bulletproofing it so now I would loose out a lot if I sold it so my second question I have a buddy with the same exact truck that's 4x4 is it easy to just swap the cab bed and motor over to it that's all that's wrong with it because a tree fell on top of it and he's selling it for 1500

I am having a similar problem. instrument panel dies then the transmission symptoms occur then the truck dies. I have tested with a multi-meter and have determined that alternator is not exciting and the batteries are being run dry. My thoughts are that maybe the GPCM is not turning off the glow plugs and that is causing the batteries to drain as well as not sending the signal to whatever redirects the power to the alternator. that causes the uninterrupted 12 v that the truck needs to run properly to drop below acceptable levels and the truck dies.

that said I don't know for sure and I need help too. I have been hunting all over online and borrowed a maintenance manual to no avail. what i have found is that the "I" terminal on the alternator plug (light green/red wire) should read around 8-9 volts but only after the 2 minute glow plug timer has turned off. Dmonty58, you should test that to see if you have the same issue as me. my other thought is that this may be an ignition issue. the schematics in the manual say that the "I" terminal goes first to the the instrument cluster then to the ignition. it seems like a pretty simple systen but i don't know what my nest step is, and I don't want to jimmy it with a hot wire to the "I" terminal because i was told that that fries alternators.

Someone please help us!
