I have just purchased a 2004 F350 with a 6.0 psd The truck has 38,000 miles on it. Before I purchased it I had my local dealership run the oasis report it came back looking good with only a new turbo and Egr valve installed at 36,000 miles. Clean carfax also. The truck is a bone stock one owner. I was planning to do the following to aviod some of the 6.0 issues. Run rotella 5w40 at 7000 mile changes with ford filter. Install ford fuel filters. Install egr block off plate. Install a 4" turbo back exhaust. Install pyro and boost gauges. Install a high idle switch. Any advice on my plan would be great. I do not plan on working the truck that hard only using for occasional pulling and a daily driver. I just want a good reliable truck like all of the other ford trucks that I have had.:ford:

I have been very impressed with the the advice given on this forum and look forward to more!!!!

Thanks in advance.

If you are not yet out of the 5/100 warranty window, I would not mod anything that tinkers with power, but I am risk-adverse.
What I would do in your shoes...
  • use only motorcraft filters oil/fuel
  • change oil/filters and fuel filters
  • Flush Tranny and Coolant
  • Add a coolant bypass filter
Once out of warranty, and you are not getting a Ford Extended Warr, then your stated mods are personal choices.

My 5/100 just expired on Jan 4th-09. My next mod is to completely remove the EGR cooler and gut the cat. Other than that, my truck suits my needs.
