I have ever a 2006 f250 xl fleet truck. About a month ago I was up at my hunting lease and on Sunday morning the batteries were dead. I put it on the charger and after 2 hrs started it and headed home. 2 weeks later it was dead again so n I changed it over night on a trickle charger and it was for another 2 week. This morning it's dead again.

I used my amp meter and it shows a draw of 1.36 amp. After pulling every fuse under the hood and in the cab I found that after I pulled the #2 fuse the draw dropped to .98 amp.

The #2 fuse in my truck is the instrument cluster.

Want else can I check for draw??

Also I unhooked the hood lamp before I started testing.

I had the batteries checked and 1 was bad. I went ahead and replaced them both. Man want a difference it made!!

I still have the 1.36 amp draw though.

I'm not sure what is considered normal, but I do know that these trucks still draw a fair amount of power even when they are "off". You are drawing power for keep alive memory in several computers and modules, the radio, the cigar lighter is powered even when off, so if you have a phone charging, etc. its still drawing.

When my first set of batteries went bad 2 years into ownership I too thought I had an electrical gremlin. I crutched it along for a couple months thinking it was something I just hadn't figured out yet. I finally called one of the guys at Innovative and he immediately told me the batteries were bad. I couldn't believe it, being used to getting 7 years or more from OEM batteries and he said simply, they just don't last that long in the Ford Diesels. Sure enough, two new batteries and the problem was gone, but shortly thereafter my FICM started acting funny. Without a doubt I killed the FICM from the constant starting with low input voltage. Now the instant I get a slow crank on a cold morning the batteries get replaced. I did step up the Interstate Megatron II batteries and got five years from my first set, though the next set went a little less, like 3.5 years. I don't know if they've cheaped out on how they make them or I just got a bad set. I'll see how long this current set holds up before I pass final judgement.

I may next week buy a set of batteries 2005 F350, 130,000 miles. Did a set in 2011. About time again with cold nights coming.

Also, not sure why, I hardly ever visit forum anymore as the web pages load super slow for me. Like watching paint dry. Sorry.
