Like John below, I used to be an avid visitor and occasional poster to the site. Still have the hat I ordered in the early years...Real Trucks don't have sparkplugs!

Recently bought a 2006 PSD to upgrade my 97 PSD (which will now become a service truck for me)

I thought that Ford had the bugs worked out of the PSD (EGR valves, head gasket issues, etc) cleared up by 05 (friend of mine told me there was no comparison between his 04 and his 07. However reading through the threads, I am beginning to think there still may be some issues.

Have not had any troubles yet, but only had the truck a month or so. As it was still under factory warranty when I bought it, I bought the 7 yr/100K premium care extended warranty.

Any special heads up I should be looking for (besides coolant loss)?

Thanks for your time.

Just drive it and take care of it. My 06 has been flawless...... I tow about 40% of my total miles. I just make sure I do all the regular services, and its been great. A lot better than my 2002 F-150 POS.

I have an 06 that has had zero problems also. It has just under 30k on it now. Probably only 12% of my mileage is towing. But I do believe there is something related to driving styles as 2006f350psd mentioned.

My neighbor had a 03 with the 6.0L. At 50k he ate a EGR cooler. At 75k he ate another one. Well when the truck reached 95k, he traded it in for an 05 w 65k miles on it. The dealer gave him an additiona 7yr 200k warranty. Well he had the truck about 6 months pulling his 10k lbs toyhauler and eats a EGR cooler. I asked him if he was using the cruise control ? He said yes, I said going up those 6 percent grades, he said yes. I did that once pulling a 10k lbs toyhauler. Instead of getting 10-12mpg, I only got 7-8mpg. So after that if I'm pulling up hill, I try to keep the rpms under 2500 and the boost under 20lbs. It takes me a little longer, but my motor is in one piece.
