I have a 2007 6.0. I have had all of the stuff done to it. I.e. Arp head bolts, egr delete, egr cooler removed. SCT with a mid tune plus a 4 inch turbo back exhaust. I have had an issue lately while driving up a sustained grade with a trailer. 6000 lbs up to 10,000. The truck will drive great at approx. 60-65, then I start hearing the fan come on followed shortly after the the temp just start climbing. Sometimes it will stay hot for a short time and fall right back down. Other times I'll have to turn on the heater and back off the pedal until it falls back to normal. It always goes back to normal temp. Last run, this happened 3 times. I've had the head gasket checked. No problem, no high pressures.

Could the water pump impeller be cavatating under the load.. It is the stock plastic impeller as I understand. Truck has 94,000 miles

Thanks

I'm wondering if the clutch fan has an issue, not staying fully engaged when it should. These fans aren't the most reliable component out there...

Thought that too, but it is engaging throughout the cycle. However, this latest round the fan stuck on (engaged) a couple of times while driving the neighborhood. That never happened before and hasn't since.

The water pump on my 06 STB @ 105,000 Mi.
Why not change to a BPD pump?
What's a few more $$ spent>:) on a 6.0!
